This is our selection, not a vote. No panel, no ballot, no averaging of other people's lists: fifty bars in seventeen cities, each reviewed in full against the same five dimensions — The Pour, The Room, The Crowd, The Tab and The Night — whether it is an eight-seat counter in Tokyo or a three-floor bar in Cartagena. The order is our score: the five dimensions weighted with The Pour heaviest, printed to one decimal. Line leads at 9.5. Bars that print the same score share a rank, shown as =2, and are listed alphabetically within it. Where the fiftieth place falls inside a shared score, the ones that make the list are decided on the unrounded average. Where a bar publishes no prices, we print none, and every award a page names carries its year.
The list is drawn from every bar we have published a review of, which today leans on New York, London, Paris and Tokyo, and it will widen as we cover more cities. For restaurants, see The Travault 50: The World.
