The Roma Bar Pouring Since 2011

Fifteen years in, the Roma original lists its cocktails by flavour and credits each one to the bartender who made it. Book the seat and eat before you go.

The Margarita al Pastor arrives with the citrus and chile pulling in opposite directions, and the drink holds. That is the trick Limantour has been pulling since 2011: a classic format with a Mexican spine, built well enough that the bar has become the template a generation of cocktail rooms in this city work from. Bartenders here have gone on to open or staff bars across the capital. You can taste that lineage on this menu because it started here.

The Roma original sits on Álvaro Obregón in a two-storey art deco room. There is a second branch in Polanco; this review is the Roma bar, the one with the years on it. The World's 50 Best Bars ranked Limantour fourth in 2022, and North America's 50 Best Bars ranks it 20th in 2026.

Fifteen years in, Limantour still credits every cocktail to the bartender who made it, and the year.

The Pour
DRINKS
8.7

The Margarita al Pastor is the house move and the one to lead with — a classic margarita build carrying the trompo's citrus, chile and pineapple logic without turning novelty. Order it first. The rest of the menu rotates and leans on Mexican infusions poured into familiar formats, which is the programme's actual thesis: not reinvention, translation.

The Room
ATMOSPHERE
8.4

Two floors of art deco Roma, brass and dark wood, the bar itself the anchor and the upstairs quieter than the ground floor once the room fills. Lighting is low and warm without disappearing; the acoustics let a conversation happen at a table for four without shouting, which is not something every cocktail bar on this street can claim.

The Crowd
VIBE
8.2

A mixed Roma crowd: locals in their thirties who have been coming for years, industry people on their night off, and a steady thread of visitors who read the list and made the booking. Weeknights before 21:00 the room breathes. Friday and Saturday after 22:00 it tightens, the volume climbs, and the bartenders move faster. That is the bar at peak and the bar at its most impressive; it is also the bar where a slow conversation gets harder.

The Tab
VALUE
8.5

Cocktails run MXN 200–300 on the pages read, from La Morena at 200 MXN to the Calle 8 Daiquiri and Caminante at 300 MXN. What is clear is that two rounds land in cocktail-bar territory for a room of this standing in Mexico City, well under what the same seat costs in New York or London. Mexican law requires prices to be displayed with IVA included and tip is voluntary; add a gratuity yourself and do not accept it added without your say-so. The Margarita al Pastor is where the money is best spent; the food is where it is worst spent.

The Night
REPEAT
8.4

This is the best version of what a fifteen-year-old contemporary cocktail bar in Roma can be: a room that still sets the standard rather than trading on having done so. Come back on a Wednesday at 19:30, sit at the downstairs bar, order the Margarita al Pastor and something dry after it, and leave for dinner by 21:30. Don't come back on a Saturday at midnight expecting the same bar — the room is still good, but it is a different night, and there are quieter cocktail rooms in Roma that will serve the conversation better.

Margarita al Pastor

“Order the Margarita al Pastor, book the weeknight, eat elsewhere.”

Fifteen years in, Limantour Roma still drinks like the bar the rest of Mexico City's cocktail rooms are quietly copying. Book a weeknight through limantour.tv, sit at the downstairs bar, lead with the Margarita al Pastor, and have dinner before you arrive — the kitchen is a snack, not a meal. Skip the Friday-after-22:00 peak if the evening is a conversation rather than a scene.
