Push through the door on Guatemala 4899 and the room resolves in the order a rock bar should: neon first, then graffiti, then the pour. The soundtrack is loud enough to make you lean in. The bartenders work like they know exactly what they are doing, because they do. This is a bar that has been named tenth in the world and the Best Bar in South America in 2025, and it has responded by looking more like a punk basement than a shrine.
The programme is Argentine-ingredient-driven cocktails — including in-house sake and a bourbon-style whisky — served in a room that would rather be dark than photogenic. There is a larger back space called El Garage when the front fills.

Dark, low, neon-washed, graffiti on the walls, rock playing at a volume that ends any conversation longer than a sentence. The front room is small and stands up as it fills. When it tips over, the back opens into El Garage, which is where to head if you want a surface for your glass and a seat for your friend. Sit at the bar in the front if you want to watch the pours; take a table in El Garage if you want to talk.
A Palermo crowd of locals in their late twenties and thirties, industry people on their nights off, and a steady stream of drinks tourists. It gets loud, it gets tight, and by midnight on a Thursday you will be standing shoulder-to-shoulder with someone waiting for your stool. The energy is the product here, not the cost — if you want a quiet cocktail, this is the wrong address.
The bar publishes no prices, on its site or on the menu online, so walk in expecting serious-cocktail-bar money rather than neighbourhood-bar money — a complaint that surfaces consistently from visitors is that the drinks are not cheap. Argentine law requires the displayed price to be the total final amount, so whatever the menu says at the table is what you pay per drink. Two rounds for two people will land in the range a top-ten global bar charges, and the pours justify the number more cleanly than the room's dive-bar styling might suggest. The value question is whether tenth-in-the-world matters to you; if it does, the math works.
This is the best version of a rock-bar-that-makes-serious-cocktails in Buenos Aires, and probably one of the best versions of it anywhere. Come back on a Thursday around ten, take a spot at the front bar, order the Ferrovial then the Cynar Julep, and let the room fill around you. Do not come back if you wanted the polish that a top-ten ranking suggests — the visitors who leave disappointed are the ones who arrived expecting a temple and found a basement doing the work instead.
