Order the Vesper Martini first — it is the house signature and the fastest read on whether the bartender in front of you is any good. The dilution is right, the stir is long, the temperature holds through the first ten minutes at the table. From there the menu opens up. Beauty and the Beast is rum, white wine and umeshu with black tea, finished with a rose that is not a garnish gag — the tea does the heavy lifting and the umeshu keeps it dry. Young/Old is vodka with peanuts, Milo and a hint of tabasco, which reads like a dare on paper and drinks like a savoury dessert. Beesting and Rhubarb & Cream sit on the same rack of considered, not-showy work.

Convent Road is a quiet cut off Silom, and the door opens into a small, low-lit bar room built around the counter. Dark wood, brass fittings, a long back bar of bottles lit from below — it reads European rather than tropical, which is the point. Music sits under conversation rather than over it. It is a room built for drinking and talking, not for photographs, and the lighting is set for the glass on the counter rather than the phone above it.

The crowd is Silom professionals early, cocktail-serious drinkers by nine, and a mixed bag of hotel-guest spillover and local regulars by eleven. The dress code — smart casual, no slippers, no athletic wear — filters out the flip-flop-and-tank-top Sukhumvit crowd, which keeps the volume where the drinks want it. Nobody is standing over your stool waiting for it to open, but nobody is lingering three deep for a photo either. It is the crowd that made the bar a Legend of the List rather than a viral one.

The menu prints its prices without a currency, so this review states none. Prices are subject to government tax and a service charge of 10%, as the menu says. The Classic/Fashion is the one line item that asks you to think before ordering; everything else is priced where a serious Bangkok cocktail bar sits, and the pours defend the number.

Vesper is the anchor of a Silom cocktail night, not a first-drink stop before somewhere else. Two rounds at the counter, a conversation with the bartender about what to order next, and you have used the room properly. Come back for the Contrast menu when it rotates, come back for the barrel-aged list, come back on a Tuesday when the counter is quiet. Skip it if you were hoping to book a table for six at nine on a Saturday — the walk-in-only policy means you queue or you go elsewhere, and the bar is not going to bend on that.
